William Edward Leibrandt, 101, Kingman, who was one of the last living veterans of the Spanish-American War, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the 10th Street Veterans Hospital at Indianapolis. He had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks following a fall in which he suffered a broken hip. He spent several years in the U. S. Army following the war. He worked as a plasterer for the remainder of his life. He was a member of the 100F of Seymour. Born Nov. 30, 1870 at Chicago, he was a son of Henry and Martha Jane Lucas Leibrandt. Survivors include his wife, Helen, two sons, Jerry of Kingman, and Edward of Anderson, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Allwood of Evansville. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Woodrow Funeral Home at Kingman with Rev. Harold Miller of Westville, Ill., officiating. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. --Typed by Debby Masterson.
